Councilman Elton Carrier I was privileged to be part of the effort to bring efficiency, safety and new pride to our town in the form of a new municipal complex on Houston- Northcutt Boulevard. We tend to forget how spread out our departments were and the cramped quarters they lived in – and how the roofs leaked and technology glitches from old equipment were commonplace. The new facility will serve us for the next 100 years and enable our departments to expand as the town grows. Great care was taken to make it attractive, using Lowcountry colors and themes. Be proud of it! It’s yours. Use it. It is a beautiful building to match our great town. Councilman Paul Gawrych I believe one of the best features of the brand new Town Hall is the fact that all of the departments of the town are now located in one facility. This will provide our citizens a one-stop shop for all of their governmental interactions and needs as well as bring many of our town employees together, thus allowing all a more fluid experience. Councilman Will Haynie The new Town Hall reflects the size and progress of the town of Mount Pleasant. To the greatest degree possible, the design capitalizes on the ambience of our unique Lowcountry town, and, in my mind, reinforces what a special place Mount Pleasant is. The first thing I always notice upon entering is the natural light that pours into the vaulted atrium as you enter the building. This light spills onto and highlights local art and other reminders of the history, heart and soul of our town. That design feature combines with a totally user-friendly design and ease of access for all the departments citizens frequent and thus comprises a building for the ages that is both aesthetically and functionally appealing. It will serve us well over many decades. Councilman Jim Owens The newly constructed Town Hall encompasses all of the town’s administrative functions.
