Our lifestyle is hard to beat. When you dive into the 2018 Best Of issue, it’s obvious Mount Pleasant has a lot to offer. In 1993, I created my first Best Of when I was publishing East Cooper Magazine . Mount Pleasant had far fewer people, businesses and restaurants. It just wasn’t the thriving town it is today. Generating votes and interest in our first Best Of was a lot harder without the internet and social media. However, even without the marketing tools we have today, there was still a lot enthusiasm and interest back then. Today we inform our 39,000+ Facebook fans and the thousands of visitors who access our website, www.MountPleasantMagazine.com , about Mount Pleasant Magazine’s 2018 Best Of. As a result, over the past six years, we’ve generated more than 226,000 Best Of votes, 41,324 of them for the 2018 competition. When you visit a Mount Pleasant business, if you see the official Best Of insignia on a wall, door or window, you know you’ve entered a business that’s been voted the best in their category – a business that treasures its relationship with its customers. That’s why customers showed them some love and voted them best. Speaking of voting: We were fortunate enough to have our new mayor, Will Haynie, pen an article in this issue about what it was like running for mayor. I think you’ll find it to be insightful. The top vote-getter among Council candidates was Tom O’Rourke, whom we interviewed, along incumbent Councilman Gary Santos and newly-elected councilwomen Kathy Landing and G.M. Whitley. There’s so much more in this issue, including Valentine’s Day weddings and other love stories, New Year’s resolutions, workout ideas, a marginally deranged narrative by our own living and breathing baseball dictionary Brian Sherman and a look at Wando High School basketball. I could go on and on – but I won’t. Just know there are some very rich articles about our awesome town, along with 174 categories of the businesses and services that our readers considered among the best in East Cooper. Our readers mean everything to us. So thanks for reading in print or online at www.ReadMPM.com . Until next time, — B i l l M a c c h i o, Publisher Publisher@MountPleasantMagazine.com
