Mount Pleasant Magazine Jan/Feb 2019

15 www.MPMcalendar.com | www.BestOfMP.com | www.ILoveMountPleasant.com H ere it is! The 2019 Best Of Mount Pleasant . We are excited and hope you are as well. This year, 52,450 votes were cast, 11,126 more than for the 2018 competition. Over the past seven years, 278,450 votes have been cast. The tabulating of the votes in five major categories is rigorous and time-consuming. We take great care to make sure each vote cast is counted and legit. Only one ballot is allowed per email address. This is strictly adhered to. There is absolutely no pay to play involved with the Best Of Mount Pleasant. We know our readers count on these results to make buying decisions, and we take that trust very seriously. When you do business where a Best Of insignia is proudly displayed, it’s a sign that their customers believe in their products and services. The Best Of covers mean a lot to this publishing team. We leverage everything and everyone’s talent to bring you the best cover possible. We make an event of our Best Of covers. At this year’s shooting location, Sweetgrass Events Center, Robert Patterson and his team worked hard to make sure we had everything we needed. This is where we will be holding our Best Of 2019 Party on Friday, March 15. You can find more information at www.BestOfPartyTickets.com . Once the location is secured, we count on the folks at Jean’s Bridal to help make the besties stylish – you can see that by looking at this year’s cover. Capturing the best photos of the 2019 besties was none other than photographer Jenn Cady. I think you’ll agree she did a fantastic job. You can learn more about past Best Of cover shoots at www.BestOfMP.video . But before we even get to this point, there’s a detailed process that involves a lot of planning. Leading that charge was Managing Editor Helen Harris. She rocks! Once all the pieces are assembled, someone needs to make the perfect cover. As you can see, Dana Coleman our resident art director, took the efforts of Mount Pleasant Magazine’s creative publishing team and assembled the perfect picture. Although I am very proud of the results, I am most proud of how this publishing team responded to the needs of one of our team members. Leading up to the photo shoot, everyone’s creative juices were flowing and everything was starting to come together – until Helen had to have emergency surgery to have her appendix removed. We all pulled together, circling the wagons around Helen. She even made it to the photo shoot, helping Jenn and all the besties shown here. Publishing is a team sport. This cover exemplifies how a publishing team can pull together when everything doesn’t go exactly as planned. We really feel like a publishing family, but that’s a whole different story.
