He was born and raised in southeast Michigan, developing a love of sports. He went on to play baseball in college, walking on as a pitcher at the University of Dayton. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1999. She is the author of a poetry chapbook “Those Carolina Parakeets Once Far from Extinct” (Finishing Line Press) and a completed novel that’s awaiting a home. Holly Vories and her husband, Mike, have lived in Mount Pleasant for 15 years, watching their four daughters grow up and move out. Holly is a freelance writer who spent the last 30 years teaching freshman composition before deciding that she’d rather be composing things herself, and that seeing Mount Pleasant through writing for the magazine is a lot of fun.
