Char l es tonBr i des The dream of most young women is to have the perfect wedding. These days, much time and effort (as well as money) go into the planning and orchestration of that special day. And many businesses hang their hopes on that day, too, and welcome the referrals that come from a perfectly planned and orchestrated day. But weddings haven’t always been the huge affairs they are now. For many brides in our great-grandparents day, a simple wedding and reception at home was more common. Attendees were few and were usually just close friends and family. And for those who hoped to simplify things even further, elopements were an alternative. Just bride, groom, officiant and a witness or two. No expense, no fuss. Idyllic vistas from our area’s preponderance of waterways could enhance the special occasion that the couple may have been dreaming of. Eloping at the ‘Old Bridge’ The Pi t t St reet Br i dge.
