We were once again able to draw upon the ranks of our talented writers to tackle diverse content. From school bus safety to SAT scoring to the history of barbecue to adventures on the surrounding waterways to hurricane coverage and beyond — we’re bringing it all to you in this magazine. Another realization I had early on in this process was that this July/ August issue marked my first year with Mount Pleasant Magazine . That’s right, I’ve already been here a year. Maybe it’s just because I like the content of this issue so much, or maybe it’s because this will always be my “first issue,” but, regardless, the July/August issue holds a special place in my heart. I enjoy admiring the natural beauty of Mount Pleasant and crafting editorials accordingly — concepts such as “where to go to escape the oppressive heat and humidity of the late summer months while enjoying a seasonal drink” or “let’s explore the experience of taking a deep-sea expedition” or “we need a simple guide of where to do water activities.” These are all concepts/ideas that came across at editorial meetings and subsequently developed into stories, and I sure am glad they did. They celebrate the seasonal, local beauty, and I wanted to convey that theme in this summer issue of Mount Pleasant Magazine . I have had a great year delving into all that is Mount Pleasant and East Cooper and can’t wait to do it again — with a bit more familiarity this go ‘round! Enjoy the summer issue of Mount Pleasant Magazine ; it’s filled with activities, recipes, advice, interviews and stories. If this publication has made anything clear, it’s that there is no shortage of knowledge or wisdom in this community.
