The main idea behind Lee’s chair was a set of wide, flat arms that could easily hold an iced beverage or a book, and a low-slung seat, perfect for prime relaxation. The chairs soon became fixtures on the vacation estates of the wealthy, who opted for a “ rustic retreat ” from the hustle and bustle of the early 1900s. Over the years, this style of chair has come to represent the lazy days of summer, providing respite, the perfect spot for a good book, a refreshing drink, and a comfortable, deeply-reclined seat. With onlyminor adjustments to its original design, the adirondack chair is now a symbol of well-deserved relaxation and unapologetic leisure.
