70 www.ReadMPM.com | www.MountPleasantMagazine.com | www.MountPleasantPodcast.com Fourteen months ago, when I first spotted the sign announcing the new Novant Health Center for Women’s Health, I had no idea I would be attending its grand opening just 14 months later. At the time, and especially after touring this state-of-the-art building, I wouldn’t have believed it could be completed so quickly. I did know, however, that this facility would be a tremendous asset to Mount Pleasant and the surrounding coastal region. The opening of this addition to the East Cooper Medical Center campus was festive and full of positive energy. Many Mount Pleasant business owners and government leaders attended; people who help make the town the desirable community it is today. As I watched the crowd, I sensed that some had come not only to tour the Center for Women’s Health, but also to meet the leadership of the health system that took over East Cooper Medical Center on Feb. 1, 2024.
