It’s an outstanding event, and, of course, Mount Pleasant Magazine has a booth every year. I tip my hat to Bert Wood, who works hard to make sure events like these go on without a hitch. Of course, it’s a team effort. Dana Coleman, our art director, creates banners and fliers to make sure we look good, and Ginger Sottile helps to pull all the different elements together. Throughout my publishing career, I’ve both produced and participated in events such as the Wildlife Expo, the Cooper River Bridge Run and the Health &Wellness Expo that help us to brand our magazines. Events like these allow us to put our publications directly into the hands of current and new readers. They allow us to have engaging conversations we would not normally have. These events also allow us to carry on digital conversation. Our Facebook community is engaging in its own way. We receive tickets to most of these events and use them to encourage our online friends and fans. For example, a week or so before the Wildlife Expo, we pushed out several posts letting our Facebook fans know that they were eligible to win free tickets. One of these posts asked our 39,150 Facebook fans to tell us what they like most about Mount Pleasant Magazine. We received many more comments than we expected. The following are unedited samples of our fans’ digital conversation with Mount Pleasant Magazine the week of Feb. 5 at www.Facebook.com/ MountPleasantMagazine: • Karen Cooke • Love Mount Pleasant Magazine for what magazines are intended for – great articles! • Lacie Rinehart • Love how you promote all of the local business in Mount Pleasant! It’s so good for the community! • Mona Stevens Wieland • I love the vibrant covers. My fave was the Clemson/Carolina cover last fall! • Connie Williams Anderson • If you want to know about events, contests and any local news, this is the best place. • Jacqueline Ackerman • I love all of the restaurants and businesses I have discovered through the magazine. • Sandy Ford • The magazine is just beautiful. The writing is top-notch and keeps me informed of everything that is going on that I would not know otherwise. It is my favorite magazine by far. Comments like these are humbling and encouraging. To our friends old and new who stopped by our booth at the Wildlife Expo for some good old eyeball to eyeball analog dialogue: Thank you. To our Facebook fans: Thanks for the many kind comments, and congratulations to William R. Beebe and Marion Von Kolnitz for winning the Wildlife Expo tickets. Whether it’s digital or analog, we love engaging conversations. We’d like to encourage you to join our Facebook community. Thanks for spending time with us. Until next time, — Bill Macchio, Publisher Publisher@MountPleasantMagazine.com
