As I drove down that long driveway, I felt particularly blessed to be able to watch the sunlight pour in between the Spanish moss hanging from the oak trees and see the horses’ tails swish in the pasture. Boone Hall is a gorgeous place, and I certainly commend Bill Macchio for choosing the Cotton Dock as our second Best of Mount Pleasant cover. Early spring is in the air, and it was evident that mild day at the photo shoot at such a picturesque location, photographed by Jenn Cady, with some wonderful “Bests” of Mount Pleasant: SOL’s David Clark, Wando Family Dentistry’s Cason Hund, SOL’s Joe Sciortino, D.R. Horton Homes’ Jessica Sciortino, The Mortgage Network’s Ethan Lane and The Celadon’s Steve Lesniak. What I love most about this issue is that it is a grand celebration of nature, wellness and all the many things that make the community in which we live so great. We have incredible beaches and oceans surrounding us – and who knew a beautiful coral discovery was so close off our shores? And let’s praise the efforts of our local lawmakers for making Mount Pleasant a cleaner, greener and more eco-friendly place, not only for the urgent issue of sea-life well-being but for the well-being of generations to come. The Bridge Run: Are you running? I know after talking to Terry Hamlin, Marc Embler and several others who have participated in this staple event in our community, either since or near the beginning, that I’m now more inspired than ever. This race was founded on the basis of wellness and getting a local group together to have a little competitive fun, and, because of people like this and longtime Race Director Julian Smith, the Bridge Run is now bigger and better than ever.
