This transformation is what happened to designer Mollie Bean, owner of MB Within Interior Design Studio. “Necessity lit the fire for me to start my own business,” explained Bean. “A single mother with three kids and full custody. I didn’t have a choice. I knew I had to succeed.” Bean burned that midnight oil to get her company off the ground. And her flame has been burning ever since. After graduating from Metropolitan School of Design with an interior design degree, Bean moved to Daniel Island and started MB Within. Seven years in and Bean’s business is booming. She has designed many beautiful homes here on Daniel Island, as well as Mount Pleasant, Isle of Palms and Sullivan’s Island. MB Within has made its mark throughout the East Cooper area. “It’s exciting now to design for homes,” said Bean. “Before COVID, everyone wanted the same look. Now, people who have started moving down to the Daniel Island/ Mount Pleasant area want to be unique. People want their homes to feel like art. It’s exciting.” A house on Daniel Island gave Bean full range to design the interior look of their home. Bean and her team were able to do custom lighting, flooring, art and more to create a beautiful aesthetic. MB Within doesn’t just work on residential properties; commercial business is where Bean spreads her wings and flies. “I remember when I got my first big job,” Bean reflected. “It was at Carmella’s Café & Dessert Bar in Greenville. It took us about three years to open, but that job is a point for me. You know where you were when you get that big call that will change your life.” Bean and her team aren’t stopping with Carmella’s. The Neighborhood Dining Group, which owns Husk, The James, Minero and Delaney Oyster House, met with Bean a few years ago about new projects. Bean and her team designed The James on James Island and the new restaurant Marbled & Fin, a modern steakhouse opening later this year on East Bay Street. Bean already has her sleeves rolled up to design a new restaurant for the Neighborhood Dining Group in Savannah. “My heart is full doing these projects and being able to design,” stated Bean. “It takes grit, you must be willing to fail millions of times. Growth comes with learning and putting yourself out there. Keeping your head down and being able to work as hard as you can. You will get far.” Art from Within Interior designs by MB Within If you’re looking for an interior designer who delivers vision and breathtaking style, call MB Within at (854) 444-8060, or email mollie@mbwithin.com.
