For a wardrobe upgrade, the locals’ go-to is Georgie Girl, renowned for their unique selection of colors, patterns, textiles and accessories curated by owner Sandi Chapman. Inspired by the unique brands she discovers at shows and along her travels, Chapman said, “I guess you could say my style is pretty eclectic since I’m always drawn to different new products and new designers. And I don’t care if a piece is in style, whose name is on the label or if the shoe has a red sole. If it looks good, I’ll wear it. I like a diverse range of clothing as well as what I feel comfortable in, what looks good with my body shape and my hair and skin color. Most importantly, I like quality pieces.” Chapman encourages her clients to browse the shop for something they would not typically be attracted to. “Enhance what you look like now, don’t wait for someday. Start by trying on a style that’s different to your usual taste. You might just love it.” Color trends for spring and summer, Chapman said, include neutrals and various shades of green, black and white. Timeless lace, flowy dresses and pleats will never go out of style. Hats are definitely en vogue, as are shorter-cut or wide-leg pants. Designers that Chapman is showcasing this spring and summer include Rosa Apparel, a brand she likes for its unique patterns and colors. For pants, leggings and jeans, Lyssè is her current favorite. For timeless travel pieces or an evening out, she loves the Joseph Ribkoff collection. New seasonal arrivals include an assortment of Johnny Was lingerie with beach towels and bathing suits coming soon. “Johnny Was has the most beautiful collection of swimwear I’ve ever seen,” Chapman said. Chapman has also recently debuted pieces from IPNG Design, which she said has “Funky verbiage set against a backdrop of nice colorations and fabric types. This line is for the girl who wants to be noticed.” Chapman added, “Elana Kattan is another lovely designer who blends flowy textiles with beautiful colors and prints. Joh Apparel fabric is like nothing you’ve ever felt, it is so soft and pliable and doesn’t wrinkle. It’s a higher-end casual line that clients come looking for specifically.” For sportswear, Chapman recommends IBKUL for all seasons. In the spring and summer, their outerwear cools the body down by 5 to 8 degrees. Plus their apparel conveniently has pockets. Georgie Girl’s accessories include a line of Galleria reversible umbrellas with beautiful patterns. Additionally, French Kande’s gold and silver jewelry make novelty hostess gifts for special events like Derby Day or Easter. Chapman said she has also started to carry high-end consignment handbags including brands such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Ferragamo.
