She has been an indepen- dent agent for State Farm Insurance since 1990. She and her six employees focus on property, casualty and life insurance. “I like helping people and helping people uncover their needs. State Farm has always been a great company to work for – always honest, a great brand and a great reputation,” she said. It was actually her clients, in part, who inspired her to open A Tailor Made Event, a full-service event planning and party rental company. McCutcheon, who loves to entertain, often invites her clients to parties. “I was constantly purchasing things and having different themes, and I saw a business opportunity,” she grinned. Her hobby has taken off, and she now employs more than a dozen people in that business, including an in-house seamstress and an in-house contractor to ensure that all her clients’ dreams can come to life. “It’s hard work having two businesses, but it’s rewarding for me because, at the end of the day, I’ve helped my clients – either by making sure my insurance clients are properly covered for their most important assets or wowing a bride on one of the most important days of her life.” Tammy McCutcheon State Farm Insurance and A Tailor Made Event 843-452-6282 www.atailormadeevent.com www.tammymccutcheonagency.com by Anne Toole Photo by Jenn Cady. O ld Hat Vintage, a retail store offering a unique assortment of vintage and antique items along with handmade goods and custom re-upholstered furniture, is building quite the reputation as the place to go. Located in beautiful, revitalized Park Circle, Pamela Bowen and her husband, Dion Bowen, are thrilled with their success. “My husband is my biggest fan and biggest promoter,” boasted Pamela, owner and dreamer. “Working with him is not unlike marriage. It can be wonderful at times and trying at times, but building something together has been amazing. I would recommend to any married couple working together to use each other’s strengths and not to dwell on each other’s weaknesses. Every head in the clouds has to have a pair of feet on the ground.” From the moment you step through the door of Old Hat Vintage, the feel of the shop grabs you. The décor of vintage and repurposed items, unique elements and hidden gems offer a little something for everyone. “This is my dream store. I love being in Park Circle. It’s a creative community where you can chase your dream. I love every piece that I create,” said Pamela. Follow Old Hat Vintage on Facebook and Instagram. Pamela Bowen Old Hat Vintage 1061 E.
