Woods-Flowers pointed out that her six years as a member of the Mount Pleasant Town Council and eight years as mayor were integral to who she is today. “As mayor, I learned to communicate well and respond to peoples’ needs. I consider what I do not so much sales as taking care of people,” she explained. Woods-Flowers recognizes that each client is different, with unique needs. Some people care only about price, while others want to live in a specific community or send their children to certain schools. She said the most intriguing aspect of the real estate business is that success is limited only by the amount of effort a person wants to put in. “It’s a wonderful opportunity. You have to be willing to work extremely hard. I’m about as happy as I’ve ever been in my life,” she said. “I like having the chance to meet new people and help them make one of the most important decisions they’ll ever make.” O riginally from Latvia, Jelena Roberts worked as a real estate agent in Georgia before moving to the Lowcountry in 2010. Today she is a Realtor at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Mount Pleasant, a job where she enjoys meeting new people and helping them build their dreams. “It’s an amazing feeling to see a client smile and be happy with their real estate transaction,” she said. The bilingual mother of three works together with her husband, Realtor Jim Roberts, on all their listings. “Honesty is important to us, and we strive to provide excellent service to all our clients,” she said. She also owns her own interior design business, which allows her to provide complimentary staging services and advise clients on remodeling. Roberts said, “The best advice I have for other women in business is to set goals, work hard for those goals and never give up. I came from another country without the opportunities available here in the United States and understand that hard work truly pays off.” By Ginger Sot tile Photo by Jenn Cady.
