Our East Cooper Neighbors TODD NOWICKI Where do you live? Mount Pleasant What do you like best about your job as Chief Operating Officer at Hunter Quinn Homes? The people I work with and satisfaction of helping people achieve their dream of homeownership in the Lowcountry What do you look forward to doing this summer? Ha…very busy summer! I have one son graduating fromWando and going to the University of Alabama. Another son was invited to compete for a spot on the US National Futsal team in July, and the other son is attending football camp at Furman. Then we are going to spend a week in Wisconsin at a lake house! Where do you love to hang out east of the Cooper? With the family, we can usually be found at Jack’s Cosmic Dogs. My wife and I will be at the “Post on the Coast,”VFW 3137 on the Isle of Palms. STEPHANIE ALEXANDER Where do you live? I live in the Edgefield Park area of Daniel Island. What is your occupation? I am a practicing family court attorney with Theos Law Firm, LLC. I am also a novelist. I have five published novels, including the award-winning Tipsy Collins Series (“Charleston Green” and “Haint Blue”) and The Cracked Slipper Series. What is a fun fact about you? A fun fact about me—that is probably unsurprising given the supernatural themes in my books—is that I have always had a really wild imagination. I rarely read books or watch shows that don’t have some sort of speculative or imaginary element. Real life is too boring, although I’m also a sucker for a good period piece. What is your favorite thing about summer in The Lowcountry? At the risk of sounding unoriginal, my favorite summer activity in Charleston is definitely going on the boat. In addition to the fun social aspects and beautiful scenery, it’s the best place to work ALEX MULHERN Where do you live? For the past six years I’ve lived on James Island, but I was raised in Mount Pleasant. What is your business? Parrot Surf and Skate in Mount Pleasant. We are a core surf and skate shop that caters to all ages. I had been working for the previous owner for ten years. Recently, he gave me the incredible opportunity to purchase the business and keep it locally owned! What is something people forget about Mount Pleasant? Something that people may have forgotten about Mount Pleasant is just how tight-knit the local community still is, even though it doesn’t seem like it with how many people have moved in and out. What is the coolest thing about your job? That’s a tough one. If I had to narrow it down to one thing, it would be that I love watching groms (avid surfers) grow up with the same stoke and drive that I had when I was their age.
