We at Mount Pleasant Magazine wish we could highlight every single one of these wonderful men and women. Though that would be impossible, we reached out to our readers on social media and asked them to tell us about their favorite moms and dads. Through the process, we learned that many different things make up an adored parent. Sometimes it’s overcoming an obstacle that inspires the family; sometimes it’s the little things mom or dad might think go unnoticed; sometimes it’s just showing up. Whatever the reason may be, we hope that those featured feel deeply honored, and that those reading are able to reflect on the special parents they know. The important thing is that these moms and dads mean everything to the people that matter most to them. Here you’ll find what community members, including celebrated radio personality Brooke Ryan and District 112 State House candidate David Artushin, had to say about the best parents in their lives. Outstanding Moms & Dads 2022 “My husband Chris is such an awesome father and husband. He works so hard to provide for our little family! We have two boys, ages 8 and 5, that say they want to be just like their daddy when they grow up. Our boys say their daddy is smart, strong, hardworking, loving and funny. He’s also one of the best video gamers to play with! Last year, we almost lost Chris due to Covid pneumonia. It was one of the scariest times in our lives! Thankfully Chris pulled through and made a full recovery. We are so thankful he’s still here with us. He is our sons’ role model and, in their eyes, a hero!” - Rachel Jones, @racheljones_sc Chris and Rachel Jones with family. “The thing that makes my momMickie so special is that she is a mom to everyone. She has taken in somany people and been the mothering figure needed in their life. She’s a listener and offers advice when asked. She keeps it real and gives the best hugs! My dad Neil is a juxtaposition. It’s my favorite thing about him. He is a man of integrity, a man of his word, a hard worker and an incredible father…on the other hand, he is the life of the party, the first one to sign up for karaoke, to enjoy a beer at a local brewery and to wear a Cousin Eddie hat (from “Christmas Vacation”) during the holidays.” -Brooke Ryan, @itsbrookeryan Mick ie Nommensen, Nei l Nommensen, Brooke Ryan, and Ashley Nommensen.
