That’s because it’s not defined by a time of year or a season, it represents an entire generation. It’s our distinct honor to highlight the vibrant lifestyle of our senior citizens. The Palmetto State’s senior population is among the fastest growing in the nation, according to 2020 Census data from the South Carolina Department on Aging. In 2020, the population of the entire state was approximately 5 million people and residents 60 and older made up 1.9 million. That’s nearly two-fifths or 40 percent of the population. Mount Pleasant and the Lowcountry in general is known for its top-notch senior resources.
