My youngest son, Anthony, who is 27, helped me put some of my thoughts in context with his recent text about his concerns: “While you’re looking at property this evening, I’d like for you to keep in mind what I said this AM and not overburden yourself with buying land, deconstructing some of the house you own, moving it, reconstructing it, listing and buying another property. I say all this because as the human body grows older, it doesn’t have the same stamina that it used to, not to mention your countless deadlines each year. I’d like to be able to continue to go on our hangouts. … I don’t like to get stressed about you drinking excessive energy drinks and having a heart attack. All-in-all, I love you, Dad!” What a wake-up call! If this doesn’t help me prioritize, nothing will. I’m blessed with three great children, four wonderful grandchildren and an outstanding daughter-in- law who not only takes great care of my grandchildren but also grounds my oldest son – which can be a difficult task at times. To top it off, for nearly 30 years, I’ve been married to a woman, Kim, who has led the way in uniting these family members whenever she has the opportunity. Hopefully Anthony’s text will help all of us think about our priorities this upcoming holiday season and will help my family and yours celebrate our blessings and all the joy in our lives.
