Mount Pleasant Magazine Nov/Dec 2019

17 www.MountPleasantMagazine.com | www.BestOfMP.com | www.ReadMPM.com E very teaching moment I get, I ask my two young children to “find the good” in a situation – to find the silver lining, the hidden positive in something that may not seem so good on the outside. So, I was pleasantly overwhelmed with “the good” that shines through on so many pages of this publication. Stories of good resound from the new children’s hospital, of support for veterans that is available right here in the Lowcountry, of the Hope House, of finding hope through tragedy, of giving back to the community in big ways and small. What a way to begin the holiday season – with a happy heart knowing that we don’t have to look hard to find the good. It’s there, and I’m so glad our writers have shared it with you. That leads me to me. I am grateful to take the reins for this publication – Helen Harris did a phenomenal job as editor for the past year and a half, and we wish her the best in her bright endeavors. I found the good in a helpful and reliable team of writers, photographers, copy editors, production designers and more who have helped bring this issue to life. They jumped in eagerly to go to a myriad of Food & Fashion photo shoots, picked up some late-in-the-game articles and photography assignments and offered every helping hand to make this issue really shine. Thank you, team! Now, let me introduce myself. I’ve been writing for Mount Pleasant Magazine for several years. I am a native of Mount Pleasant – this has always been my home, save for four years at Clemson where I met my husband, Scott, who also happens to be from Mount Pleasant. Mount Pleasant born- and-bred are a rare breed now, it seems, but our town has gained some wonderful people along the way. With each issue I’m glad to learn even more about the people – old-school and new-school – who are creating good for our town.
