In January, we honored our Best Of 2021 winners — and when we were finally able to meet in person, we hosted our beloved Best Of Party, held at Alhambra Hall in September, where we celebrated outstanding businesses and people of this community. We’ve featured luxury Lowcountry homes, tales of Mount Pleasant residents helping others and much more throughout the past year. In this final issue of 2021 you’re holding, you’ll find the gripping stories about leading women in the military, our new recurring fishing column and an exclusive look into life on Dewees Island. I just recently joined the publishing team here at Mount Pleasant Magazine . As your new editor, I look forward to fostering my relationship with you, dear readers. In May 2021, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English from Wofford College, located in the upstate of South Carolina. While I was there, I discovered my passion for journalism as well as for my community. As a sophomore in college, I started writing for our school newspaper, the Old Gold & Black. As I worked my way up at the Old Gold & Black from contributing writer to managing editor to finally editor- in-chief, I learned more and more about what it means to be a writer and an editor. I love to tell the stories of others, and, as the editor of Mount Pleasant Magazine , I get to share those stories with you. While I came on board during the last issue and worked on parts of it — go to our website to check out articles I wrote for the September/October 2021 edition — the November/December 2021 issue is the first time I have worked on this magazine from start to finish. Inside, you’ll find content for Mount Pleasant Magazine as well as Charleston Women and Mount Pleasant Pets. Thanks for reading, and thank you for having me, Mount Pleasant. Allison Sherman Managing Editor editor@mountpleasantmagazine.com In our last issue, we printed a misquote in the article, “Put Us In, Coach: A Look at South Carolina’s Two Rival Teams for 2021.” In this article, USC Football Coach Shane Beamer is quoted as saying “No one can deny that Clemson and South Carolina are on different levels. The Gamecocks are struggling to be Bowl eligible, and the Tigers are competing for national championships. They are not the same.” Please note that Beamer did not say this, and the quote was falsely attributed. Please accept our apologies for the misprint. 2021 ® WE D D I N G S A N D R O M A N C E - M E E T T H E B E S T YouVoted,We Listened!
