But, two seconds after stepping inside Bakies at I’On, you will be tempted to take home every treat in sight. “We are everyone’s neighborhood bakery,” said owner Gail Holdcraft. “We make cakes and goodies for all your family celebrations—from baby showers to weddings—and all the events in between.” The aromatic storefront boasts cookies, scones, cinnamon buns, turnovers and pecan bars. They also do “fresh bread Fridays” and offer Badger and Bird Wisconsin cheese. “We specialize in hand-decorated shortbread cookies and event cakes,” Holdcraft stated. “We also do corporate logo cookies and treat boxes for events, conferences, holidays, customer gifts, et cetera.” As for the unusual business name? “It was a good friend’s idea – that you don’t cook a cookie, you bake a bakie,” she said, then added, “We will have our 10th anniversary February 16. We have always managed to have a great team. We have been blessed with the most wonderful, caring employees, friends and family who have stepped up to help when needed. To me, that is the biggest part of what makes Bakies at I’On unique and special.” The team at Bakies loves seeing customers year after year and becoming a sweet part of their traditions.
