15 www.ReadMPM.com | www.MountPleasantMagazine.com | www.MountPleasantPodcast.com Hope. I find this word to be synonymous with the holidays for many reasons. Holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas fill our bellies with joy and our stockings with gifts, but that’s not what the season is all about. It’s a time to fill our hearts with thankfulness and gratitude; now that’s sustenance. Our Holiday Issue is overflowing with hope in every story starting with our cover. When is the last time you’ve seen religious leaders from all denominations congregate? The logistics of this photoshoot was like pulling teeth, but when it came to fruition all of us were smiling because we realized what we had just accomplished. We brought the community together despite the differences in our beliefs. We quite literally found common ground at Boone Hall’s Avenue of Oaks. If that doesn’t make you a believer, then perhaps the philanthropy from our local nonprofits will rekindle the faith in your holiday spirit. Hope is the greatest gift of all that you can offer someone and a perfect example of that is the Hurricane Helene relief efforts for our neighbors in Asheville, North Carolina. I’m proud to say that Mount Pleasant Magazine played a direct role in helping those impacted by serving as a drop-off site for donations. Times of crisis such as these show just how generous and selfless our community truly is. Kudos to all who contributed. Before you begin to feast with family and friends or unwrap that shiny new toy you’ve been asking Santa for, take time to reflect and think about the underserved and less fortunate among us. The real magic occurs when we share our blessings with others to help them get through the holidays.
