Our East Cooper Neighbors JOANNA STRICKLAND Where do you live? My family and I live in North Mount Pleasant. What is your occupation? My husband and I own and operate a custom home building and remodeling company called Carolina Lowcountry Custom Homes LLC. What is your favorite fall activity? Once the weather cools down a little and the leaves start to change, we love to get out into nature in whatever capacity we can. Whether it is hiking, camping or bonfires, we just love spending time with family outdoors. Do you prefer to watch professional or college football? We definitely prefer college football. We are counting down the weeks until the college football season starts again! If we cannot go to a Clemson game, we have a crowd at our house every weekend without fail. It is one of our favorite things to do as a family. Go Tigers! JENNIFER THRIFT Where do you live? I live in Huger now, but I used to live in Mount Pleasant. What is your favorite part of your job? I am a teacher librarian at Charles Pinckney Elementary. The best part of my job is the opportunity to create engaging learning experiences for all of our students. The focus of my job is to collaborate with teachers to make learning fun and exciting. What is your favorite food for tailgating? My favorite tailgating food would be fried chicken. I grew up in South Carolina, and fried chicken with all the fixings is what makes a great meal. What is your favorite football team? My favorite football team is the University of South Carolina Gamecocks. I have been watching the Gamecocks play since I was little. My dad was a huge Gamecocks fan, and I love reliving the memories of hanging out with himwhen I go to the games. My daughter now attends the University of South Carolina, so we love tailgating with her and cheering for the Gamecocks. Spurs up! CHRIS RAYBON Where do you live? I live in Mount Pleasant. What is your occupation? I am a cyber security agent. What is your favorite football memory? By far, my favorite football memory happened while I was serving in the Navy back in 1997. I played for the Yokosuka Seahawks in a Japanese semi-pro league. I returned an interception for a touchdown in the championship game to seal the win! Would you rather watch a football game from your living room or the stadium? Why? I love watching games live in the stadium. The emotion and energy that are felt in a live game do not compare to watching in my living room. It is great to celebrate a win or suffer through a loss with people that care as much about the team as I do.
