KATE MILES DESIGN Kate Miles, Owner If you’re planning a new look for your home or business, try Kate Miles Design. Launched in 2017 when Miles began working out of her home, KMD opened a brand-new location in June on Pitt Street in the Old Village. A store where you can shop for art, furniture and home accessories. “I’ve always dreamed of having a place where people could come find that perfect piece they are looking for,” said Miles, who hails from New Jersey. “We also create floor plans, select paint colors, plumbing and flooring selections and specify all furniture and accessories to best suit your space and needs.” Miles will suggest and create a personal design for any room or your entire home, plus any décor needs that you have for a commercial space. “We work with the client through the entire process,” she said. “Starting from the ground up and helping people with all of the selections that go into building a new home is what I like best. And I’m really excited about having the new shop to better help customers.” BLONDIES BAGELS & CAFÉ Anne Turner, Owner It’s worth a visit to Blondies Bagels & Café on Daniel Island just to see and hear from owner Anne Turner about the origin of the name Blondies. “My younger sister Jane and I have always dreamed about having our own neighborhood café,” said Turner, originally from New Jersey. “There has never been a recipe we weren’t eager to test or share with our friends. So Blondies became the name – two blondes and a play on the all-too-familiar sweet that represents our love for baked goods.” Menu items include assorted pastries and baked goods, an array of breakfast and lunch sandwiches, La Colombe coffee, Harney & Sons Fine Teas, homemade cream cheese and of course, bagels. Turner said that she and her sister, who opened the shop together in 2015, “Love that we can be the meeting place for so many island residents.” SENIOR RESOURCE SPECIALISTS Anne Marie Long, Owner Finding the best fit for senior living accommodations is an important family decision and the Lowcountry has extensive options to serve seniors of all needs, both at home and in community settings.
