Mount Pleasant Magazine Sept/Oct 2026

72 www.ReadMPM.com | www.MountPleasantMagazine.com | www.MountPleasantPodcast.com Having spent most of my life on the Isle of Palms and meeting my wife, Grace, right here in the Lowcountry, our main goal was always to buy a place in South Mount Pleasant. I’ve spent my whole life living, working and playing across these islands, so I was determined to stay close. We were set to get married in May, so buying a house in the spring wasn’t in the game plan. But then a solid opportunity popped up that we couldn’t pass up: a strong colonial-style home in Snee Farm. It needed some work, but it had great bones, was completely livable and checked every box for us. We closed in March and got married in May. We dialed back our honeymoon plans to focus on the house. After a quick mini-moon down in Georgia’s Golden Isles, we moved in during the heat of summer and got straight to work painting and renovating. Moving while planning a wedding is a lot to tackle, but the neighbors here stepped up right away to lend a hand, which made a huge impression on us. We already knew the layout of the community pretty well. A lot of my buddies live in the neighborhood, and we’d actually joined the club two years back. I’m on the course playing golf every chance I get, and Grace has gotten big into tennis, so we were already spending a ton of time at the clubhouse and pool. The facilities are top-tier, but the best part about Snee Farm is how active the guys and families are out here. You’ve always got people fishing the ponds, families out on golf carts and competitive swim meets and golf tournaments happening every week. On top of that, the setup of the neighborhood is awesome. You have ample green space and a heavy canopy of pine and oak trees that makes it feel like an oasis right in the middle of town. Back when it was developed in the 1970s it was on the outskirts, but today it sits in the prime spot of Mount Pleasant. It’s great seeing these original homes get revamped with serious renovations while keeping the overall character intact. You’ve got a great mix of young families, retirees and working professionals here. As Grace and I build our future and focus on our careers, there’s no doubt in my mind that we have picked the absolute best neighborhood to do it.
