C O M A t Wando Family Dentistry, making patients feel comfortable and safe while offering the best care and treatment possible is a team effort. “Our patients and staff help to differentiate our practice,” said Dr. Cason Hund. “By having fun at the dentist, it creates a little different experience that people want to share. When we have new patients come in and say their neighbor told them what a wonderful visit they had, that makes us want to continue fostering those personal relationships and fun office atmosphere.” Is it any wonder why Dr. Hund’s practice was voted Best Dental Practice? Wando Family Dentistry treats patients a little differently than most, according to Dr. Hund. He likes to have conversations with patients while discussing their oral health — not just give them a to-do list for morning and night hygiene rituals. “We also like to get to know our patients personally. The dental office is not a place too many people love coming to, so we try to make it as comfortable as possible and treat people warmly. It’s easy for patients to enjoy their visits if you treat them how you would like to be treated and have a little conversation while you’re at it. It doesn’t have to be a cold, impersonal visit,” he said. Obviously, Dr. Hund’s approach has worked just wonderfully. The practice has steadily grown since its inception. “But one thing that has not changed through our growth,” he said, “is taking the time to individualize treatment for each person and get to know each of their needs and desires.” Dr. Hund said a major strength of his practice is that “we are great clinically,” adding, “but to those who don’t care about technical dental detail, being able to build trust in our patients by putting their needs first and being able to create a pain-free experience is crucial.” The practice recently added a new patient coordinator, Heather Tippette, whom Dr. Hund said, “is great, and we look forward to introducing her to everyone.” Also on the horizon is a brand-new state-of-the-art office. The pandemic of 2020, of course, affected Dr. Hund’s practice. “We had to shut down for two months, which was hard on everyone. Keeping constant contact as a team and a staff helped us to share information with one another and be well-informed on how to move forward. We have a great team with awesome camaraderie. We are a family here at Wando Family Dentistry, and that is pretty special.” Doing business in Mount Pleasant is also special for Dr. Hund personally. He grew up in the Charleston area and wanted to be here for the long haul. “That is why I have put lots of time and energy into being the best dental practice for the community that we can be. The people here are kind and thoughtful. It’s nice to have caring neighbors whom you can then return the favor to by caring for them.” BY JOHN TORSIELLO For more information on Wando Family Dentistry, call 843-972-9700, or visit wandofamilydentistry.com .
