T

he weather couldn’t have been

nicer for the 2013 Charleston’s Women’s Show.

People from all over the Lowcountry visited the

Omar Shrine Convention Center in Mount

Pleasant for two days of “health, beauty, family and fun.”

More than 50 vendors participated this year, offering goods

and services ranging from scrumptious, Valentine-appropriate

edibles to makeup and beauty tips. Ladies strolled from booth

to booth, sampling what the vendors had to offer and enjoy-

ing the opportunity to network.

One of the highlights of the Charleston’s Women’s Show

is watching performances by talented, local individuals, and

this year was no exception. Twelve-year-old singing sensation

“Karoline” stole our hearts, as did charming duets by brother-

sister duo Nydir and Adaya Singletary. We also watched

dancing by Bollywood performer Aarti Narang, plus Dance

Carolina, Elite Dance International, Fred Astaire, Dance

Anatomy and Gymnastics Academy of Charleston.

Fashion and beauty is another key component of the

Women’s Show, with the three contestants of the Lowcountry

Extreme Makeover revealed on Sunday afternoon. This year’s

three – Cameron Craft, Vada Love and Erin Quinn Welk

– were all declared winners in the competition, thanks to

their hard work and exceptionally close results. And speaking

of good looks, guests enjoyed a chic fashion show by Blush

Boutique on Saturday.

“I thoroughly enjoyed meeting all of the vendors and

checking out their products,” claimed Jodi Harter, show

director. “The performances were terrific, and we enjoyed see-

ing the results of the makeover – all three contestants looked

wonderful, and their hard work and dedication over the prior

30 days is admirable.”

Money raised by a silent auction over the weekend ben-

efited My Sister’s House.

“It was a great feeling, knowing that we raised money for

My Sister’s House,” remarked Harter. “Being a Women’s Show,

we wanted to reach out to the women in need within our com-

munity, and My Sister’s House is a worthwhile organization.”
