W
e’ve all heard that we shouldn’t
“sweat the small stuff” or that we should “stop and smell the
roses.” Both these sayings ring true. Because we all are caught
up in our day-to-
day grinds, we
sometimes don’t pay attention to the truly
important things in life. Most of us are
guilty of this attitude. Time is the most
precious commodity we have to give.
Once each minute of each hour of each
day is gone, we don’t have the option to
give it back or to spend it on some other
rose in our lives.
One of the great things about living in
Mount Pleasant and so close to our sister
islands is that there are so many beauti-
ful places to smell the roses and spend
time with friends and family. Whether it’s
walking on the beach on the Isle of Palms
or Sullivan’s Island, strolling through one
of Mount Pleasant’s peaceful parks or
crabbing or shrimping in one of Mount
Pleasant’s creeks, creating memories with the people you love will make you far richer
than the money in any bank account. Yes, I am partial to Mount Pleasant. Our year-
round magnificent weather makes outdoor activities possible from January through
December, adding to the vibrancy of our beautiful town.
All my sons grew up in Mount Pleasant, and, because my family has lived here
for more than three decades, we have a treasure chest of Mount Pleasant memories. In
fact, our youngest son, Anthony, was born in Mount Pleasant, attended school here
and graduated fromWando High School. The photo is of Elle and Anthony getting
ready to go to their junior/senior high school prom. Some of you might remember me
writing about his graduation from Full Sail University; you can read that publisher’s
note at
www.MountPleasantMagazine.com/Anthony.Please don’t forget to create as many memories with family and friends as you can.
You never know when events will change your opportunity to add treasure to your per-
sonal treasure chest. I would like to share our family’s story about Anthony, not to bring
you down but to help you focus on your own personal wealth – your personal treasure
chest. The real meaning of life has everything to do with faith, family and friends.
Read about our story at
www.MacchioTrustFund.com. And turn to page 11 in
this issue for information about a special event on Anthony’s behalf.
When bad things happen, silver linings are sometimes hard to find. For us, your
prayers and good wishes are our silver linings.
