When someone of such prestige, community influence and accomplishment passes, people have something to say about it. Even if they did not know him, Ravenel affected Charleston and Mount Pleasant residents — if only by the daily scenic trek over the bridge. One of our most commented-on posts ever, many community members took to social media to share their thoughts. Now we’d like to share some of those with our readers. “Such a wonderful man I had the privilege of meeting. I got to know himway back when I serviced his heating and cooling system. Rice and Santos heating and air. He was a wonderful person.” — John Gregory “My sincere condolences to the Ravenel family. True Southern gentlemen and force. His spirit inspired greatness in many citizens of South Carolina. Legendary impact for love of country.” — Linda Smith “Goodbye old Huguenot friend. You came up for dinner and it was the last time we ever saw you. May St. Peter greet you at the golden gate and say ‘Cousin Arthur, you come right on in, and make yourself at home.’” —Dodie Garris 98 Church St. - Mt.
