Whether visiting the shop for a coffee and a sweet treat or taking a box of goodies to a neighbor, the experience inside a newly-built Victorian-style house decorated with a 1920s and 1930s vibe, feels right out of a Hallmark movie, said bakery manager Hannah Singleton. Established as a baker for more than 30 years, Holdcraft said that the most exciting aspect of the business is all of the people she’s gotten to know and the friendships she’s made with regulars who have been coming in for a lifetime. For example, decades ago she was baking cakes for baby showers and the babies, now adults, are ordering their wedding cakes from Bakies. Holdcraft said the inspiration for these cake designs is everywhere, whether she’s out and about observing daily life, watching wedding and baking shows, or from photographs that her clients bring to show her what they have in mind for their special occasion. Making people happy is of utmost importance to Holdcraft, who said the ultimate compliment is when a client trusts her to take their vision and run with it.
