of peak hours,” she pointed out. “There’s lots you can do, like

syncing traffic lights. And in some cases, roundabouts are

more effective than traffic lights. You also have to understand

when large employers such as East Cooper Hospital are

letting in and letting out.”

Though it would more than double the price of the

Highway 41 project, Page said a flyover at Highways 41

and 17 should be considered, and Gawrych agreed that the

Council should take a serious look at that scenario as well.

“My mind is open to all options,” he said. “But I want to

make sure our citizens have a say. We started that process last

week,” he said, referring to a public meeting held March 23

at the Park West gymnasium.

Page, Gawrych, DeMoura, Summey and Grooms all

agreed that the town, county, state and federal government

should work together to take care of the necessary

improvements on State Highway 41.

“It’s not a solo act. It’s more like an orchestra,” Page

concluded.
