We’re talking about the Georgetown Business and Community Expo & Shrimp and Grits Cook-Off held at Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club earlier this year. It was the first time Georgetown Podcast and Mount Pleasant Magazine had been to this popular event, and we were happy to be a part of it. We were honored that award-winning coastal photographer Tanya Ackerman accepted our invitation to be part of our booth (check out the article on her new book on the next page). It was great to see businesses from throughout the Carolina coast. Our coastal region is a community of its own, and it was obvious as you walked through the 50-plus booths and talked to the people attending. I had conversations with people from up and down the coast. There were businesses with locations in Charleston, Mount Pleasant and Summerville, as well as many attendees and businesses from up the coast as well, including Murrells Inlet, Surfside Beach and on up to Little River and above. Over the years, I’ve gotten to know multiple entrepreneurs who have had several businesses in various locations along our coastline. There is a sense of community among residents of the Carolina coast, whether you live in Little River or Mount Pleasant or Charleston. But the fact is we all live along the Carolina coast. And yes, we need to be more engaged where our immediate homes and businesses are, but everyone who lives and does business along the Carolina coast, regardless of what coastal town it may be, is excited for Georgetown and the renaissance it is experiencing. If you want to feel the excitement and learn more about what’s going on in and around Georgetown, listen to or watch the Georgetown Podcast at www.GeorgetownPodcasts.com. You can also plan on attending next year’s Georgetown Business and Community Expo, slated for March 16, 2027, at Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club.
