Y

oung East Cooper wordsmiths, here’s your big

chance! We at

Mount Pleasant Magazine

are

hosting our very first poetry competition this

fall, and we need you to send in your work!

Who you are:

You’re a young writer who loves to put pen on paper and

create verse – or you’ve always wanted to try something new!

It doesn’t matter – we love amateurs and experts alike.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for original, creative poetry. We aren’t going

to insist on a particular topic, but we admit we love poems

about the East Cooper region.

Who the judges are:

We will have at least four judges – maybe five or six,

depending on how many poems we get – for this

competition. The judges for the poetry contest will be

community members who love original writing, including

Marcus Amaker, Charleston’s very first Poet Laureate.
