the “heart” of Mount Pleas-

ant? There’s plenty of room

for debate. Some might say

it’s Pitt Street and the Old

Village itself, while others

might opt for Shem Creek

or even Towne Centre.

But there’s no room for doubt about what constitutes

our town’s “circulatory system.” It’s the roadways that carry

tens of thousands of motorists from the Ravenel Bridge to

the edge of Awendaw, from the Wando Shipping Terminal

to the Isle of Palms Connector and beyond.

None of these roadways is more important to the
