INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS

Flexible Options to

Meet Students’Needs

WEBSTER UNIVERSITY

L

ife is busy. Whether you

dream

of obtaining an undergraduate or a

graduate degree, the prospect of doing

so while juggling work, a family, a hectic

schedule or a possible move in the near

future can be enough to deter many

people from even enrolling. But earning

a higher education degree is not impossible, and Webster

University helps bring those dreams

of a better “you” within reach.

Webster University is a global network of campuses

spanning four continents, including two dozen in the

United States. Its Charleston campus has been helping

students reach their academic

goals for more than 30 years

and maintains a current

selection of degree programs

that are significant to the local

economy.

Some of the Charleston

campus’ programs

include a master of arts in

Counseling, master of Health

Administration, master of

Business Administration,

graduate certificates in

Project Management, Organizational Development and

Government Contracting, as well as a bachelor’s degree

in Management and Psychology. You can find a full list of

programs at

www.webster.edu/charleston.

The Master of Health Administration is one of the

newest and fastest growing programs at the Charleston

campus. This 36-credit-hour program prepares individuals

to work in one of the leading industries in the Charleston

area. Graduates of the program will guide health care

organizations toward greater efficiency through planning,

directing, coordinating and supervising the health care we

count on for ourselves and our families.

The master of arts in Counseling continues to be the

largest program at the Charleston campus and is the only

clinical mental health program in the Charleston area. This

program prepares students with a strong base of knowledge

and skills to practice effectively in a variety of careers in the

field of mental health. Graduates of the program will be

prepared to take the licensing exam and will possess all the

educational requirements necessary to become licensed in

South Carolina.

“We have over 250 students in Charleston, and most

hold full-time jobs,” explained Vice Provost Nancy

Hellerud. “We are honored to offer tuition discounts

to several major area employers – for example, Boeing,

MUSC and the military – who send employees here

to advance their careers through higher education. We

are constantly expanding our relationships with local

employers to provide quality education to individuals from

all over the Charleston area.”

Night and online courses

accommodate students’

schedules, and on-campus classes

meet one night each week for

nine-week terms. The local

campus is located in North

Charleston, off of Leeds Avenue.

“The average student spends

approximately two years earning

their master’s degree. However,

full-time students may complete

a 36-credit-hour degree in a little

over a year. The options are flexible to meet each student’s

needs,” Hellerud said.

In addition to the flexible schedule, relevant course

offerings and worldwide network, Webster University’s

faculty members are rated highly by students.

“Nearly all of our professors are adjunct faculty. They

are in the workforce doing what they teach. They have

real-world experience and real-world connections, and

they enhance the quality of education,” said Hellerud.

“Not only do we want you to graduate with a great degree,

but we want you to have a great career as well. We’re here

to help you do that.”
