INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS

Where Every Student CanThrive

MASON PREPARATORY SCHOOL

A

cademics, involvement and citizenship are

characteristics that are emphasized at Mason

Preparatory School. Mason Prep cultivates a

vibrant learning environment for 300 students between

kindergarten and eighth grade that prepares them for future

academic journeys and instills values

of community citizenship. The

dedication and passion of the educators and administrators

have a positive impact on students as they grow during their

time at Mason Prep and in the years to follow.

“Our size allows us to know the children as individuals and

help them identify and cultivate their strengths,” commentedHead

of School Erik Kreutner. “All of our students are known and loved.”

Community service and citizenship are major components

of the school’s mission statement. To put students in touch

with issues facing their community, each grade participates in

an annual service project. This past year, the seventh graders

learned about hunger, a plight that affects not only the

United States but also the world. They studied and discussed

how hunger can exist in a country that produces so much

food and brainstormed different ways to help. They hosted

a canned food drive at the school and volunteered at various

service organizations such as “I Heart Hungry Kids” and the

Lowcountry Food Bank.

Mason Prep understands that introducing children to

community service and acts of selflessness at a young age

fosters their commitment to service and citizenship.

Along with citizenship and service, Mason Prep inspires

students to be well-rounded individuals. The school

offers a variety of activities, including developmental and

interscholastic sports, chess, art, karate, and math and science

programs. Each child is given the opportunity to explore his

or her interests and encouraged to try new activities.

Mason Prep’s commitment to academics, citizenship and

individual interests provides an environment where every

student can thrive.
